Are the mitts soft and safe for eczema?

Yes. The natural silk mitts are extremely smooth and gentle, making them ideal for eczema, TSW, dermatitis, chickenpox, post surgical healing, and other irritations where scratching can worsen the skin.

Can ScratchSleeves be worn day and night?

Yes. They can be used at any time—daytime play, naps, or overnight. They’re cool, breathable, and designed for long-term wear.

Should my child wear ScratchSleeves over or under clothing?

Either works, but for older children who may try to remove them, we recommend wearing ScratchSleeves under:

A t-shirt
Pajama top
Dungarees or pinafores, or any top with straps

This makes it harder for little ones to take them off by themselves.

How do I choose the right size?

We recommend choosing the size based on your child’s wingspan (fingertip to fingertip with arms outstretched). This provides the most accurate fit. Please refer to the size chart here on the product page.

What is the difference between smaller and larger sizes?

Smaller sizes (up to 9 months): No shoulders, cut-away neck to keep babies cool and make dressing easier.

Larger sizes: Added shoulder panels for a more secure fit on active toddlers and children.

Can the mitts be opened?

No. These ScratchSleeves have sewn-in, closed mitts.

Are ScratchSleeves flame retardant or treated with chemicals?

No. ScratchSleeves are not treated with flame retardants and do not contain PFAS or other harmful chemicals.

Are they safe for children with allergies or chemical sensitivities?

Yes. The sleeves are made from cotton and the mitts from natural silk—no latex, spandex, flame retardants, or PFAS.

How do I wash and care for ScratchSleeves?

Machine wash at 40°C using non-biological (gentle) detergent. Tumble dry on a low setting. Do not use bleach or harsh chemicals. The silk mitts are durable and designed to withstand regular washing.

Do ScratchSleeves make children too warm?

No. The sleeves are made from lightweight stretch cotton and the mitts are silk, which helps regulate temperature. The loose-fit design keeps little ones cool and comfortable even during sleep.

Can my child still move their hands and arms?

Yes. The sleeves are soft and stretchy, and the silk mitts allow natural movement while preventing harmful scratching.

Will ScratchSleeves stay on my active child?

Yes. The cardigan-style wrap stays securely in place. For toddlers and older children, wearing them under a top makes removal very difficult without adult help.

We LOVE our sleeves for our son who has severe ezcema and allergies. He used to wake himself up all night scratching, even with regular mitts, but these were a life saver. This is our second pair and he wears them every night and every nap

Toddler loves her ScratchSleeves

I bought my daughter (19 months) a pair of ScratchSleeves to help with her hair pulling when she is going to sleep and waking up. She took to the "silky mitts" right away and wears them happily. She is able to pick up toys and books with them, but not pull out her hair. We put them over her pajamas and under her sleeveless sleep sack. Very happy with the product.

Does the job

We got these for our two year old who scratches endlessly at night and nap time and while it does help I’ve had to start putting them under her clothes and pajamas because the fabric stretches out and gets so loose that she can get it off. If I don’t put them under her clothes I worry she’ll strangle herself in the night because the fabric get so stretched out. I wish there was a connector between the two sides in the front. Also wish the material didn’t loosen so much after just a few wears. I did all the measurements but it’s still huge. She’s 2 and I ended up ordering the size down based on her measurements but even that feels too big because of how the fabric gets stretched out. I do like the silk mittens though and I dry them in the dryer and nothing happens to the silk which is nice. Does the job but I wish it wasn’t so loose on her.

That said, some of our customers have reported success with washing in cold water and air-drying to combat this.
